Often times in large cities, such as Detroit, there is a lamentable lack of available fresh produce. One solution to this problem is to encourage people to grow their own food. The Black Community Food Security Network in Detroit, Michigan has created a model for dramatically improving the way people live and experience their urban environments, demonstrating how agriculture can be a vital element in re-envisioning a city like Detroit.
